home for the holidays

well, the semester ended. now i'm just [im]patiently waiting to repackage my things and run back into the open arms of chicago. this is my first time being away from college and not having a job, so there's not a whole lot for me to do other than just... read, watch movies, and draw. i'm not gonna complain to terribly much, though, because those are my three favorite things to do.

here are some of the things that i've done over break:
here's a  sketch of my beautiful friend miss sabrina. [she is an adult film superstar.]

and here is me. trying to draw in the style of titmouse, and probably failing a lot. wow, that's awkward.

anyway, i guess that's all for now. i don't have my very own scanner at home, so it's a bit tough to get my doodles on the computer.

all the best and happy holidays,

happy belated birthday, walt!

so, yesterday was walt disney's 110th birthday.
it was also my first final, and boy golly, was it a toughie! still, i'm glad that it's done with and out of the way. now i can focus on the important classes... like animation!

... or like the thesis paper on the golden age of disney that i should probably be hacking at right now...

stay beautiful,

the fruits of my labors.
here is the finished and fully sounded animatic for my story boarding and concept art class.
from cradle to grave it took like... idunno, four weeks to fully make? not including the first pass of the story board.  i hope the internet is somewhat impressed with it!

i might go back and fix it up eventually, but for now this is what i will be submitting as my final piece.

there's a light at the end of the tunnel. i can see it. i just hope it's the sun and not an oncoming train.

final storyboard

some of my favorite panels from my final story board project. it's about a superhero who's afraid of heights.

that last one makes me laugh... hehe.

busy as a bee for the rest of semester, too many things to get done in not nearly enough time.  wish me luck.

hansel and gretel

so, i go to college to make story boards that will hopefully eventually become animated films.
here is an example of a story board i made for the classic story "Hansel and Gretel." i also wrote a poem to go
with it:

Hansel and Gretel, all done with their chores,
Decided to go and have fun out-of-doors.

"let's go for a walk in the woods," gretel said
"and we'll find our way back,"
"... with a trail..."
"... made of bread!"
Neither Hansel nor Gretel was terribly bright,
and the walked til their cottage was far out of sight.

The trees became gnarled, and the sky grew dark-
and the children could not find the trail that theyʼd marked.
They were starting
to panic
and fill up with dread,
When they noticed a house
... through the trees up ahead.
they crept up to the clearing and there they could see-
a beautiful cottage made of sugary sweets!

The kids slurped...
... and they crunched...

and they kept
eating
more...
when the owner burst suddenly out of the door!
when she saw it was children
that were causing the din,
she smiled quite sweetly,
and invited them in.
now i hope you'll remember, as i said before,
these children weren't smart, and their judgment was poor.
with the promise of candy and boardgames and more,
the kids followed the witch right in through her door.

surreptitiously
the witch gave them both sleeping potion,

The children passed out and in one sweeping motion-
The witch threw the kids in a cage on the floor
and walked out of the room after locking the door.

The kids tried to get free, but it was too late.
Locked up in a cage, you can picture their fate.
The witch came toward the cage with her cleaver raised high-
And the next day she enjoyed some fresh children pie.
